Solving for Sustainability in Fashion
America is the birthplace of mass manufactured clothing, shaping the current concept of our clothing production and consumption today. America is also the top gun slinging country in the world. There are more guns than citizens in this country, and the data is still a gross underestimate. America protects our gun laws as fierce and loyally as they protect the business of capitalism.
We’ve heard it all before. Anxiety is high. The situation is unavoidable. We all know that our habits in this system are impacting the Earth’s demise, and we are finally starting to feel it.
I don’t believe that innovation will solve this complex system. There is evidence and history stating that our Earth has been able to sustain itself and it’s inhabitants before. What needs to change is our perspective, our valuation of success, our connection to our production, our community, and our land.
